The crew from Diamond Kobra return in full force in their follow-up full-length to 2019’s "The Arrival“, with "Return of the Starbeast". With B.B. Baconsson & Otto Løfgren at the helm of a freshly upgraded and modified space-craft - this record explores further reaches of the sonic galaxy, with a refined ease.
Modernized navigation, upgraded weapons, and an overhauled engine (powered by high octane prog-metal shred), whisk the listener from one dynamic soundscape to another. Each track is like it’s very own planet, a unique “boss-fight”, or a glimpse into certain moments in space-time, that matter. Long before all 12 tracks have completed, you’re far beyond a casual observer - you’re fully charged and engaged in all of the triumphs and turmoil. The entirety of this journey plays out much like a saga for the mind and ears... sometimes even experimental in nature, just like killer adult science & fiction should be. “Diamond Kobra spielen „High-Voltage Darksynth“, dessen Grundstein in Form eines Demotapes schon 1984 gelegt wurde. Besagte Kassette ist nach 34 Jahren wieder aufgetaucht und spornte die Musiker an, das Material mit zusätzlichen Synthesizer-Sounds und einigen Gitarren anzureichern. Das Ergebnis tönt wie ein Soundtrack aus den Achtzigern und dürfte vom „Stranger Things“-Hype profitieren. Zudem kann das schwedische Duo zahlreiche Gastbeiträge vorweisen. U.a. sind Blind Guardian Sänger Hansi Kürsch und Arch Enemy Guitarist Michael Amott zu hören, während das kultige Cover vom renommierten Filmposter-Künstler Thomas Hodge "The Dude Designs" stammt. „The Arrival“ ist als limitiertes Vinyl in Pink mit bedruckten Innersleeve zu haben.

”Im Synthwave- und fiktiven Soundtrack- Genre erscheint eine herausragende neue Veröffentlichung mit Heavy-Metal-Hintergrund. Diamond Kobra spinnen ihre Geschichte um das Konzeptalbun „The Arrival“. Es soll bereits 1984 entstanden, aber bis jetzt verschollen geblieben sein. Die beiden Produzenten Otto Lofgren und Bjørn Bors Baconsson stießen darauf und nahmen das Material neu auf. Dank ihrer Kontakte in die Metal-Szene gewannen sie dafür Gäste wie Arch Enemys Michael Amott und Blind Guardians Hansi Kürsch, die das Profil des sowieso schon starken SciFi-Soundtrack-Konzeptalbums mit Hörspielelementen um die Rebellen-Gang Diamond Kobra zusätzlich schärfen. Das ganze ist inspiriert von 80er-Filmklassikern wie Total Recall, City Cobra, Alien oder Terminator. Die vielen Ohrwurmmelodien und Klänge kommen auf dem tadellos gefertigten Vinyl hervorragend zur Geltung, die Hochglanztasche passt zum obligatorisch kitschigem Retro-Cover.“

Außergewöhnliches 80s Dark Synth Retro-Album mit Starbesetzung! Der Stil dieses 80s Retro Albums ist klar von Synthieklängen geprägt - aber nicht im Sinne von Pop-Produktionen aus dieser Epoche, sondern dies hier ist DarkSynth! Diamond Kobra kann man auch nur schwer einer Schublade zuordnen - sie haben sich quasi ihr eigenes Genre geschaffen und wenn man sich fragt, wie das denn wohl klingt; das Cover bringt es zu 100% auf den Punkt! Da hat man sofort die bildgewaltigen Szenen aus Blade Runner vor Augen. Auf jeden Fall volle Punktzahl auf allen Ebenen. Gehört in jede sorgfältige Vinylsammlung.

Die auf 500 Schallplatten limitierte Erstauflage im neon pinken Vinyl (180 gr.) bietet eine Reise in die 80er Jahre mit fett produziertem Synthie-Pop/Darksynth und Rock/Metal Gitarren. Aufgelockert durch hörspielartige Elemente macht dieses Science Fiction Konzeptalbum richtig Laune, man hat das Gefühl, als befände man sich mitten in einem der 80er Jahre Action-Science-Fiction Kinofilme.
